EU’s Association Agreement for increasing Competitiveness of Georgian Agriculture

The purpose of the project is to foster increase of competitiveness of Georgian agriculture sector by providing in-depth research material and disseminating information on the types of standards and regulations to be introduced for small-scale primary producers and processing enterprises.

The project aims to analyze the extent to which the new standards will incur compliance costs and enjoy potential benefits in terms of rationalizing in-farm production systems, better access to domestic and foreign markets.

More Specifc Goals of the project are:
1) Empowering local agricultural producers with the information on envisaged standardization procedures in the frame of EU’s AA and DCFA;
2) Empowering local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with the information on envisaged standardization procedures in the frame of EU’s AA and DCFTA;
3) Providing policy recommendations to the central and local governments of Georgia;
4) Conducting needs assessment of small scale primary producers and processing enterprises.
