About Us
The Democracy Frontline Center, based in Tbilisi, Georgia, is the brainchild of the Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC), a longstanding NGO based in Tbilisi. It envisions attracting a wide spectrum of freedom fighters, human rights activists and democracy advocates throughout the European and Eurasian region, coalescing around the fundamental values of democracy, rule of law, and the liberal international order. These universal values have been essential to peace and stability throughout most of the continent, and the Center sees itself as a focal point for defending and advancing the cause of freedom, democratic development and respect for human rights. The Center supports civil society activists seeking to advance and consolidate democratic reform in their countries while pushing back against threats from authoritarianism, corruption and kleptocracy. It will reinforce the democracy frontline – i.e., those in democratic countries and countries aspiring to join Euro-atlantic institutions bordering countries with authoritarian regimes — by creating a common space for democracy fighters to help them develop practical measures and learn from best practices for strong democratic development. It will tailor unique approaches for every country and situation while staying rooted in features common in democratic societies. The Center will also aim to cultivate a new generation of changemakers, engaging them in an effective network for democratic advancement.
