Youth Club Launch

Donor Duration Budget Status
The Chevening Fund / British Embassy 2019 - 2019 £ 17,400

As a result of the program, Fukuyama Democracy Frontline Centre Youth Club has launched successfully. It has effectively mobilized and united young, like-minded change-makers, emerging leaders from 6 Eastern European countries including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Youth Club members were linked with the Chevening Alumni Network, as well as Leadership for Development Academy Alumni to engage in dialogue and share experiences and ideas on democracy. As 8 out of 10 speakers were LAD Alumni, Youth Club members used their chance to establish long-lasting professional ties with them. Speakers encouraged and motivated young freedom fighters on how to pursue their interests and initiatives in specific fields, all thematically related to democracy. Effective collaboration between Youth Club members and LAD Alumni served as a core foundation for developing immense networking opportunities. During each session, crucial case studies on important democratic challenges were discussed. Youth Club members actively participated in setting the theoretical framework of the two-day educational journey and were involved in all decision-making processes. The two-day journey included outdoor activities such as visiting the Parliament Building of Georgia to discuss the importance of “claiming the space” during protests, as well as group’s visit to the Museum of the Soviet Occupation, where they closely observed the visually descriptive marks of Soviet Occupation. In-depth learning processes pursued and completed by the members of the Youth Club and the speakers/LAD Alumni provided a substantial ground for continuous mutual educational support.
