Stanford/EPRC Conference Spirit of Democracy - Enabling Foreign, Economic and Security Policy Choices in the Region

The project has three inter-related aims:
  • to provide policy makers with reliable analysis and forecast concerning the impact of NATO membership on the country’s economy;
  • to enrich the quality of discussions in the public sphere with reliable economic analysis concerning Georgia’s accession to NATO;
  • and to raise awareness about the economic benefits of NATO integration among key domestic actors – the policy-makers, the civil society and the media.
Within the project, a two day conference „Spirit of Democracy: Enabling Foreign, Economic and Security Policy Choices in the Region” was organized in close collaboration with the Stanford University’s Center on Democracy Development and the Rule of Law(CDDRL) in Tbilisi.
Welcome speeches were made by the following honorable speakers of the conference: the President of Georgia George Margvelashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia David Usupashvili, Charge d’Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia Nicholas Berliner, Ted Whiteside – Acting Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Public Diplomacy.
The purpose of the Conference was to share Georgia’s experience in the democratic reforms, as well as to share experience and best practices with democratic leaders in the region and from around the world to transfer and implement these practices in Georgia.
