Within the project, experts of Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC) conduct trainings for the Members of Parliament and the staff of various committees. For the purpose of the project, four target committees were chosen: healthcare, agrarian, environment protection and human rights. The trainings are linked to the budgetary cycle and touch upon the issues of: budget principles, importance of transparent budget, the role of the parliament in budgetary processes, budget analysis, principles of program budgeting, Basic Data and Directions document (BDD) and its relation to the state budget, analysis of draft laws, etc. After each training, the experts of the Center engage in mentoring activities with the staff of the committees to assist them in preparation of the conclusions and recommendations on the draft budget and execution reports.

The purpose of the project is to increase capacity of the committee staff and strengthen the role of the parliament in budget oversight.
